My Claire bear with the long blond hair

Most everyone we know affectionately refers to Claire as "Claire Bear." I sometimes tell her she's my Claire Bear with the long blond hair and she thinks that's so funny. Her nickname for Ava is "Ava Cakes." Ava's middle name is Katherine, so we occasionally call her "Ava Kate." Claire obviously made up her own version. We've attempted to correct her, but she likes her name better!

Claire is a busy girl, but so much fun these days. She is starting to slowly get the hang of soccer, but we had a minor setback last week when she had a huge collision with someone from the other team and ended up with a bruise on her face right beneath her eye - her first sports injury! I suppose I should have photographed it, but I just plain forgot. You'll just have to take my word for it!

She loves to color and many times tells me when she's coloring that she's doing her homework. I think to myself, you'll have homework soon enough - I'm not sure why you'd want to pretend to do it now! I'm guessing it makes her feel older in some way. Speaking of getting older, she is starting to outgrow naps now and most days lately I am settling for a quiet rest time. She loves it that she doesn't HAVE to go to sleep during the day like Ava does. However, sometimes she falls asleep anyway!

She getting more inquisitive lately as well. The other day when we were in the car, she held up a quarter and asked, "Is this God?" Chris and I chuckled and told her it was one of our former presidents, but found it neat that she would think that was him. She still is asking lots of questions about who is married and who is not married. I have no idea what the fascination is with that!
